The story of Juice Beauty starts with Karen Behnke and Melissa Jochim, a duo that is passionate about organic and healthy lifestyles. These California women believe that taking care of yourself along with the planet can actually be fun and satisfying, while a healthy organic lifestyle extends not just to food, but what we put on our faces and bodies, too. Working only with the purest, certified organic ingredients that are also toxin and paraben free, the passions and beliefs they share about all things natural is the mantra at Juice Beauty, a company committed to providing effective organic solutions for healthy, radiant skin.
What makes this brand so unique is its main ingredient: certified organic fruit juice. Rather than using water, the girls opted for antioxidant-rich organic juices, which have a much higher percentage of nutrients than non-organic. Their menu of juices reads like a recipe for the ultimate smoothie: apple, lemon, pomegranate, and white grape are just a few. Sent to the fulfillment lab frozen in five-gallon pails, these fresh-squeezed juices have an expiration date of just a few months. So once the juices are defrosted, they're immediately put into the products.
With that kind of timing and deadlines, it's a wonder that this team of "juicers" produce the mass of product that they do—the demand for Juice Beauty outside of the U.S. has grown significantly. In Behnke's office is a map of the world, with a simple pushpin marking where Juice Beauty is now being sold. Among the countries who are requesting organic: England, Korea, and most recently, Kuwait. "They find us, we don't find them. I get tons of emails from countries wanting Juice Beauty to come to their country," Behnke says. "I guess people want a taste of that healthy, California lifestyle."
Every detail that goes into Juice Beauty products—from how many different types of juices go into each product to the organic integrity of the packaging—is well thought out. "We use essential oils that are sourced from all over the world that are all plant-based and organic," says scientist Jochim. "Even our packaging uses soy-based ink and recycled packaging."
