it's really thick and rich and i found i didn't need a detangler to get it through my hair. i did have to use quite a bit because my hair is shoulder length, but i don't wash my hair every day so that's fine. i didn't condition afterwards because i use the leave in curl enhancing cream afterward, so my hair was a bit dry but not as bad as when i was using pantene's "moisturizing" shampoo. this is a lovely product that i will probably be using for a long time. the only issue i have is the odor. it is a very strong, musky smell, i'm surprised this isn't labeled a "men's" product because of it. i don't find the odor unpleasant but it isn't something that i want my hair to smell like....I am rarely happy with a shampoo, but this is by far one of the best I have tried.
