ProactivAdapalene Gel 0.1% Acne Treatment
Skin Type: Normal, Combination, and Oily
Skincare Concerns: Acne and Blemishes, Redness, and Uneven Skin Tone
- Adapalene 0.1% (Retinoid)
What Else You Need to Know: Adapalene treats and prevents acne which helps restore your skin's natural tone and texture. This retinoid gel prevents blackheads and whiteheads, reduces redness from acne, unblocks and shrinks clogged pores, and restores skin by supporting skin cell turnover.
Adapalene is the first new active ingredient approved to treat acne without a prescription in over 30 years. Dermatologist-developed and tested, Adapalene is a safe and effective retinoid, which doctors have prescribed to over 40 million people globally for more than 20 years. Some users may notice a reaction called retinization, the adjustment period in which the skin becomes acclimated to Adapalene Gel. During this time, skin may become red, flaky, and irritated. It is highly recommended that you use a moisturizer to help relieve symptoms of retinization, which typically begin to subside around week four of your retinoid treatment. Remember to always use a sunscreen when using Adapalene.
-Adults and children 12 years of age and older: use once daily.
-Clean the skin gently and pat dry before applying the product.
-Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer.
-Use with a gentle, noncomedogenic moisturizer, preferably one with sunscreen protection, to counteract the dryness.
-Adapalene can be used on the face, and the first effects of Adapalene may be visible in just two weeks, but it may take up to three months of daily use for you to see consistent results.
-When first used, Adapalene can cause dryness, redness, and irritation for some individuals. This irritation usually lessens after the first four weeks of continued use. In some instances, acne may appear worse for a short time. If this occurs, you can try a gentle, noncomedogenic moisturizer, preferably one with sunscreen protection, to counteract the dryness.
-If irritation becomes severe (overly bothersome), stop use and ask a doctor before using the product again.
-Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before using Adapalene as an acne treatment.
-Children 12 years of age: ask a doctor.
