Would this be sticky/cause extra tangles for long hair if you want to keep it down after styling/curling?

No I do t think so. I have very long hair this spray is very light (hence the name super fine). It e create a lot of hold but no stickyness. I do find it to leave a white residue of product build up. Try the oribe apres beach shine spray.
