Hi! This is a serum based foundation, so it does soak into your skin like a foundation. I have found that result to be true when you use a sponge. I would recommend that you use a foundation buffing brush (if you're looking for cheaper alternative, Sephora collection is great, but I'd recommend RT's bubble brush) and squirt only 1 pump. After that, I use a powder blender/sponge (also from rt) to take out all of the extra oil and then after I finish my makeup, finish it off with a setting spray.
