Is this similar to Jo Malone Red Roses?

No. It's totally different in my opinion. This is a darker sultry and way more complex than Red Roses. Personally the Velvet Rose Oud is one of my favorite perfumes by any brand. But I actually don't like the Red Roses one very much.
