You can build them up, but it takes a few layers for it to look like the swatch (but sheer is kinda the look nudesrix usually goes for anyway). I like the mattes for waterproof makeup days, but cream shadows are a little finicky for me for daily wear unless your doing one color blown out....Based on the pictures I expected this to be a brown that leaned a bit plum or taupe. I don't know if it's my skin tone (fair olive) bringing out other tones or the pictures online just aren't accurate.
