Why is Sephora selling a brand that is making false claims? Phyla.com states that probiotics in their acne serum are an active living ingredient, which is impossible, as by law, the product must be preserved, which would "kill" any living probiotic.

Hi! I’m a scientist and I’ve actually done research with bacteriophages. Phages are NOT living organisms, they are viruses (literally just protein capsules with DNA/RNA in them and they ONLY infect bacteria), meaning they do not need any preservatives to survive. They are sentient when they have no bacteria to “eat.” They are also very specific to the kind of bacteria they kill - about 1-2 species per phage - so they cannot possibly and will not kill every probiotic living on your skin. Phage therapy is recently being used in medicine to kill antibiotic resistant infections, so this is a very innovative approach to treating acne! No false claims, just some bad description wording on their part.
