I was really excited to try the new Tom Ford Black Orchid as I had tried other parfums from TF but neither of the black orchids. ...The first thing I noticed picking up the bottle is how slender it is, which is a nice improvement on perfume bottles that are large and clunky. Tom Ford's perfumes are not for the faint of heart.

Wild Vanilla Orchid...I didn't get as much of a vanilla vibe as I was expecting, but the orchid scent is lovely....I'm not much into vanilla scents but this perfume mixed with the orchid scent is surprisingly pleasant.

However, I felt that the perfume smelled better in the bottle then on my, mixing with my chemistry. ...Well balanced perfume...I love all vanilla smelling things, so the vanilla mixed with a light orchid scent is irresistible. Huge fan of this perfume!

This is what orchids smell like...Now I am in a dilemma. Do I get the Velvet Orchid too? Do I?!...Sometimes heavy winter perfumes can feel oppressive and cloying, but not so with Black Orchid.

It almost reads as floral throughout the day, I assume it's from the orchid and coconut....Initially I was taken aback by this scent because I did expect something a little sweeter. The vanilla orchid is definitely very prominent for a good while so I would not say this is a gourmand vanilla.
