What is the difference between a Gift Card, an eGift Card, and an eGift Certificate?

  • Gift Cards are physical cards that have a 16-digit gift card number, and an 8-digit PIN number.

  • eGift Cards are virtual cards that have a 16-digit gift card number, and an 8-digit PIN number.

  • eGift Certificates are no longer available for sale and can only be used by calling Customer Service at 1-877-Sephora. They have an 8-digit alphanumeric code (no PIN).

All Sephora Gift cards, eGift Cards and eGift Certificates should be treated like cash: they cannot be replaced if lost, stolen, altered or destroyed. Where to buy a Sephora Gift Card or eGift Card?

There are three ways to buy Plastic Sephora Gift Cards:

Sephora eGift Cards are distributed by CashStar, Inc. There is one way to buy Sephora eGift Cards:

Sephora will only honor Gift Cards and eGift Cards purchased through our stores, website, mobile app, and authorized retailers. We no longer sell eGift Certificates. You cannot use a Sephora Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate to purchase Gift Cards or eGift Cards. All sales of Gift Cards and eGift Cards are non-refundable and are final.

At this time there is a one gift card limit per online order. To purchase multiple gift cards online, please call our Customer Service at 1-877-SEPHORA. You can also visit a Sephora store to purchase multiple gift cards.

How do I check my Gift Card, eGift Card or eGift Certificate balance?

There are four ways to check your Gift Card oe eGift Card balance:

  1. Online via Desktop Computer:Sign into your Account and click on your name for your account on the upper left-hand side of the page. From the My Account page, locate the Payments & Credits section and use the link to check your balance on the Gift Card.
  2. Online:Click here to view our Gift Card page at Sephora.com. There is a section to check the balance at the bottom of the page.
  3. By Phone: Call 1-888-860-7897.
  4. In Store: A Cast Member can check the balance for you for Gift Card or eGift Cards (for U.S. stores) (if you have a print out or your mobile device).

How to redeem a Sephora Gift Card, eGift Card or eGift Certificate?

A Sephora Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate should be treated like cash: they cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Sephora Gift Cards, eGift Cards, and eGift Certificates have no expiration date, are not charged any fees against the unused balance, cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash (except as required by law). You can use up to two Gift Cards, eGift Cards and/or eGift Certificates per online order. You can use up to ten Gift Cards, eGift Cards, and/or eGift Certificates per online order by contacting Customer Service at 1-877-SEPHORA. If the amount of the order exceeds the amount of the Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate, the recipient must pay for the balance of the order. If the amount of the order is less than the balance of the Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate, the difference will be available to the recipient for future redemption. If any online credit is available to the recipient, then the online credit will automatically be applied first.

The daily exchange rate will determine the value of your Canadian Gift Card if used in U.S. and the value of your U.S. Gift Card if used in Canada.

*Note: We no longer sell Beauty Studio Gift Cards, but Beauty Studio Gift Cards can still be redeemed. A Beauty Studio Gift Card is just like a classic Sephora Gift Card, except it should be used towards your $50 merchandise purchase when you (or your gift recipient) receive a complimentary 45-minute Custom Makeover. The Beauty Studio Gift Card recipient must call the store or visit Sephora.com/beautystudio to book an appointment for a Custom Makeover. The Beauty Studio Gift Card should be redeemed for merchandise at the time of the service. If the Gift Card is not present, you will need to use another form of payment for the $50 minimum purchase. You may also redeem your Beauty Studio Gift Card on a merchandise purchase online or on mobile app – however, the complimentary Custom Makeover is only available when the Beauty Studio Gift Card is redeemed in a U.S. or Canada Sephora store. How to Redeem a Sephora Gift Card or eGift Card Online

Sephora Gift Cards and eGift Cards have a 16-digit gift card code, and an 8-digit PIN number. To redeem online, just follow these easy steps:

Step 1 (for plastic Gift Cards only)

Using a coin or fingernail, scratch off the foil covering the 8-digit gift card PIN number. This is located on the back of the Gift Card, in the right corner.

On the Checkout page in the Payment section, enter your Gift Card number and PIN number.*

Hit the “Save & Continue” button in lower right corner of the Payment area. You will see the Gift Card amount deducted from your total order on the right side of the page.

*I entered my gift card information. Why is it still asking for my credit card?

Your Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate may not cover the full order total, which can include sales tax, shipping fees, or the difference of the order. Gift/eGift card funds will be applied to your order total first, and any remaining amount will be covered by your credit card. On the Confirmation Order page, be sure to review the payment information and total charge of your order to confirm all details are correct.

Is there a limit to the number of Sephora Gift Card/eGift Card limit that I can redeem at once?

You can use up to two Gift Cards, eGift Cards and/or eGift Certificates per online order. You can use up to ten Gift Cards, eGift Cards, and/or eGift Certificates per online order by contacting Customer Service at 1-877-SEPHORA.

Can I redeem Sephora Gift Cards at JCPenney or redeem JCPenney Gift Cards at Sephora?

At this time, you can redeem your Sephora Gift Cards at JCPenney. You cannot redeem your JCPenney Gift Cards at Sephora, but you can purchase Sephora merchandise at JCPenney with your JCPenney Gift Cards.

How can I add value to an existing Gift Card, eGift Card or eGift Certificate?

At this time, you can only add funds to an existing Gift Card by going to a Sephora retail store location if the Gift Card was purchased at a Sephora store, on our website, or on our mobile app. You cannot add value to eGift Cards or eGift Certificates.

How to return an item that was purchased by a Gift Card, eGift Card or eGift Certificate?

If you would like to return an item that was purchased by a Sephora Gift Card, eGift Card, or eGift Certificate, your return will be subject to Sephora’s Returns policy and your refund will be credited to either an online credit (if returned by mail) or another Gift Card (if returned in store). Any funds charged to a credit card will be automatically credited to the same card. If you do not have a receipt and your merchandise is returned in a store, you will receive a merchandise store credit, if your return is accepted.

How can I add my Gift Card or eGift Card to Wallet? (eGift Certificates cannot be added to Wallet)

  1. Go to https://sephora-m.cashstar.com/plastic/add/.
  2. Enter the Card Number and PIN from your gift card.
  3. Enter your valid email address and select “Submit”.
  4. Enter your phone number and select “Text Me My Pass”.
  5. Your Gift Card will be texted to your iPhone.
  6. Click on the Gift Card text and add the Gift Card to your Wallet by selecting “Add” in the upper right corner.
  7. Open Wallet to view your Sephora Gift Card in Wallet.

Now you can easily store your gift card information on your mobile device. As you use your gift card, the balance will be updated to reflect your current balance.

Sephora Store Credit

Sephora Store Credits cannot be used online or on our mobile app at this time. They are only accepted in Sephora stores for merchandise purchases. They are typically distributed to customers by Sephora stores in exchange for merchandise returned by a customer without a receipt (or where a customer requests a Store Credit instead of a cash or credit card refund).

Sephora Promotional Card

Promotional Cards are clearly marked “Promotional” on the face of the card and are not available for purchase. Your use of the Promotional Card constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions, which may change at any time.

  • > Expiration of a Promotional Card

Promotional Cards are only available for redemption during a limited promotional period. Promotional Cards expire as indicated on the face of the card, unless otherwise required by law. You can check the expiration date at any time by calling 1-877-SEPHORA (1-877-737-4672). You will need the Promotional Card number. We recommend that you redeem your Promotional Card soon after you receive it so you don’t forget.

  • > Redeeming a Promotional Card

U.S. Promotional Cards may be redeemed in U.S. stores, on Sephora.com, or via our mobile app in the United States for merchandise only. Purchases will be deducted from the Promotional Card until the value reaches zero. The Promotional Card may not be used or redeemed with certain promotional offers and may not be applied as payment on any account. If the amount of your purchase exceeds the value of your Promotional Card, you must pay the difference. For online purchases, just shop and check out as you normally would. During checkout, follow the steps as indicated for Sephora Gift Cards. You may only apply one Promotional Card per online order. Promotional Cards cannot be combined at this time.

  • > Reloading a Promotional Card

Promotional Card value may not be reloaded.

  • > Returns and Credits

The Promotional Card itself is not returnable, redeemable or exchangeable for cash, except as required by law. If you would like to return an item that was purchased using a Promotional Card, your refund will be credited back to you in the form of a new Promotional Card. The original expiration date will still apply.

  • > Checking the Balance on a Promotional Card

  • > Lost or Stolen Promotional Cards

Please treat your Promotional Card like cash. The value of the Promotional Card will not be replaced if the Promotional Card is lost, damaged or stolen.

Card Issuer

Sephora Gift Cards, eGift Cards, eGift Certificates, Store Credits, and Promotional Cards issued in the U.S. are issued by LGCS Inc., a Florida corporation, which is the sole legal obligor to the cardholder. Neither Sephora USA, Inc. nor any of its subsidiaries or affiliates (including Sephora Beauty Canada, Inc.) other than LGCS Inc. shall be liable to a cardholder with respect to Gift Cards, eGift Cards, eGift Certificates, and Promotional Cards issued in the U.S.

Sephora Gift Cards, eGift Cards, eGift Certificates, Store Credits, and Promotional Cards issued in Canada are issued by Sephora Beauty Canada, Inc. which is the sole legal obligor to the cardholder. Neither Sephora USA, Inc. nor any of its subsidiaries or affiliates shall be liable to a cardholder with respect to Gift Cards, eGift Cards, eGift Certificates, and Promotional Cards issued in Canada.

Sephora Gift Card, Store Credit, and Promotional Card Terms and Conditions

The following Sephora Gift Card, Store Credit, and Promotional Card Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) describes the terms and conditions that apply to use of Sephora Gift Cards, Sephora Store Credits, and Sephora Promotional Cards (collectively, “Cards”) issued in the U.S. This Agreement is between you, the Cardholder, and LGCS Inc. (“LGCS”). BY PURCHASING, ACCEPTING OR USING YOUR CARD, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT PURCHASE, USE OR ACCEPT THE CARD.

IMPORTANT: THIS AGREEMENT INCLUDES RESOLUTION OF DISPUTES BY ARBITRATION INSTEAD OF IN COURT. PLEASE REVIEW THE PROVISIONS REGARDING ARBITRATION BEFORE PURCHASING, USING, OR ACCEPTING THE CARD.

1. Changes To Agreement

LGCS reserves the right to change this Agreement from time to time in its discretion, which changes we may provide to you by any reasonable means, including without limitation, by posting the revised version of this Agreement at sephora.com. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF THE AGREEMENT AFTER THE POSTING OF CHANGES CONSTITUTES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THE CHANGES.

2. About Your Card

The Cards are issued by LGCS. LGCS is an affiliated entity of Sephora USA, Inc. and is authorized to issue the Cards for sale or distribution by and redemption at participating Sephora stores located in the United States, online at sephora.com in the U.S., on the U.S. Sephora mobile app and at Sephora inside JCPenney Stores, as explained in more detail in Section 5, below. LGCS is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Card program in the United States. LGCS is the sole legal obligor to the Cardholder. Sephora USA, Inc. and its affiliates and related entities (other than LGCS) bear no responsibility or liability for the use or malfunction of any Cards, and you hereby knowingly release Sephora USA, Inc. and its affiliates and related entities (other than LGCS) from any and all liability or claims of any nature whatsoever arising in connection with the use of the Card.

Sephora Gift Cards can be purchased at participating store locations, online at sephora.com in the U.S., on the U.S. Sephora mobile app, and from authorized retailers. Sephora Store Merchandise Credits are distributed to customers by Sephora stores in exchange for merchandise returned by a customer to a store without a receipt (or where a customer requests a Store Credit instead of a cash or credit card refund). Sephora Promotional Cards are distributed to customers by Sephora, in stores or online, pursuant to various loyalty, rewards, or promotional programs.

3. Balance Inquiry

For balance inquiry, call 1-888-860-7897. The balance you hear when inquiring over the telephone is an estimate only. In most cases, the balance is adjusted immediately when you make a purchase, but there may be occasions when the balance adjustment is delayed.

4. Expiration/Deactivation

Sephora Gift Cards and Store Credits do not expire. Sephora Promotional Cards may expire depending on the particular promotion; thus, please refer to the specific terms and conditions for your Promotional Card. No fees for inactivity or service fees apply. LGCS reserves the right to refuse to honor any Card in the event of a disputed credit card charge, bounced check or other failure of consideration.

5. Redemption

A Sephora Gift Card is redeemable for purchases of merchandise at participating Sephora locations in the United States and Canada, online at Sephora.com, on the Sephora mobile app, and at Sephora inside JCPenney Stores. A Sephora Store Merchandise Credit is redeemable only for purchases of merchandise at participating U.S. or Canada store locations and is not redeemable online or through our Sephora mobile app. A Sephora Promotional Credit is redeemable only for purchases of merchandise at participating Sephora locations in the United States, online at Sephora.com in the U.S., and through the U.S. Sephora mobile app. The Cards have no cash value and may not be redeemed for cash (except as required by law) or used to purchase another Card.

6. No Refunds

NO REFUNDS ARE PERMITTED WITH RESPECT TO CARDS.

7. Lost, Damaged Or Stolen Card

The value of any lost, damaged or stolen Cards will not be replaced.

8. Limitation Of Warranties

LGCS AND ITS AFFILIATES MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO CARDS INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CERTAIN STATE LAWS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE DISCLAIMERS, EXCLUSIONS, OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

9. Limitation of Liability

IN THE EVENT THAT A CARD IS NON-FUNCTIONAL, YOUR SOLE REMEDY, AND OUR SOLE LIABILITY, SHALL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH CARD.

10. Agreement to Arbitrate Disputes

MANDATORY BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION. Please read this section carefully. It affects legal rights that you may otherwise have and requires individual final and binding arbitration of most disputes instead of resolution in court.

Arbitration is the submission of a dispute to a neutral arbitrator, instead of a judge or jury, for a final and binding decision, known as an “award.” Arbitration provides for more limited discovery than in court, is subject to limited review by courts, and the result is confidential. Each party has an opportunity to present evidence to the arbitrator in writing or through witnesses. An arbitrator can only award the same damages and relief that a court can award under the law and must honor the terms and conditions in this Agreement.

A. ARBITRATION AGREEMENT, CLASS ACTION WAIVER, PUNITIVE DAMAGES WAIVER

You and LGCS agree that any dispute, whether at law or equity, arising out of or relating to this Agreement or your use of the Card, regardless of the date of accrual of such dispute, shall be resolved in its entirety by individual (not classwide or collective) binding arbitration, except that you or LGCS may take claims to small claims court if they qualify for hearing by such a court.

You and LGCS agree that any arbitration under this Agreement will take place on an individual basis and that class, mass, consolidated or combined actions or arbitrations or proceedings as a private attorney general are not permitted.

You and LGCS agree to waive the right to trial by jury.

This agreement to arbitrate extends to claims that you assert against other parties, including without limit claims against Sephora USA, Inc., and its affiliates and related entities.

The Agreement evidences a transaction in interstate commerce and the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this agreement to arbitrate.

This agreement to arbitrate shall survive termination of this Agreement. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, if any part of this agreement to arbitrate is deemed invalid or inapplicable, the remainder of the agreement to arbitrate shall still be considered valid and enforceable. If any part of this agreement to arbitrate is deemed invalid or inapplicable, you and LGCS both waive, to the fullest extent allowed by law, any claims to recover punitive or exemplary damages and any right to pursue any claims on a class, mass, consolidated, or combined basis.

ARBITRATION PROCEDURES

Arbitration shall be conducted by JAMS in accordance with its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures (the “JAMS Rules”). The JAMS Rules and instructions for how to initiate an arbitration are available from JAMS at http://www.jamsadr.com or 1-800-352-5267. To begin an arbitration proceeding, you must serve LGCS’s registered agent for service of process at Corporation Service Company, 2711 Centerville Road, Suite 400, Wilmington, Delaware 19808, United States. Payment of all filing, administration and arbitrator fees will be governed by the JAMS Rules, except that for claims of less than $1,000, you will be obligated to pay $25 and LGCS will pay all other administrative costs and fees. In addition, for claims of less than $1,000, LGCS will reimburse you for the $25 fee if the arbitrator rules in your favor. Reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses will be awarded only to the extent such allocation or award is available under applicable law.

Any arbitration will take place in or near the county where claimant resides and will be determined by a single arbitrator; provided, however, that upon request by either party, the arbitration shall be conducted via telephone to the extent permitted by the JAMS Rules. The arbitration may award on an individual basis the same damages and relief as a court (including injunctive relief).

Judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

11. Choice of Law/Forum Selection

In any circumstances where the Arbitration Agreement permits the parties to litigate in court, this Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, excluding its conflict of law rules. You expressly consent and agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue in Florida.

12. Severability

The provisions of this Agreement are intended to be interpreted in a manner which makes them valid, legal, and enforceable. In the event any provision is found to be partially or wholly invalid, illegal or unenforceable, such provision shall be modified or restricted to the extent and in the manner necessary to render it valid, legal, and enforceable. It is expressly understood and agreed between the parties that such modification or restriction may be accomplished unilaterally by LGCS, or alternatively, by disposition of an arbitrator or a court of law. If such provisions cannot under any circumstances be so modified or restricted, they shall be excised from the Agreement without affecting the validity, legality or enforceability of any of the remaining provisions.

13. Fraud

LGCS reserves the right to refuse to honor a Card where LGCS suspects that the Card was obtained fraudulently.
